Someone Told Me

Pin It Now!

Dress - Topshop (years ago)
Shoes - Dunnes Stores
Glasses - Vintage shop
Belt - Taken from another dress

I finally got to wear this dress which I bought years ago in a sale in Topshop. I've just never felt fully comfortable in it. I don't know why, maybe because it feels quite structured and it has quite a full skirt. It had a belt in the same colour but I think this brown belt works better and breaks it up a bit. I think I could wear this dress alot of different ways - maybe with a black belt and black shoes and a yellow cardigan. Or a peach cardigan and black wedges. Hmm..I might take it out and try different colours with it and post about that too.
I was at a fantastic wedding at the weekend where I wore a dress I got from Asos.  Unfortunatly I didn't take any decent pictures of the dress while I was wearing it (too caught up in the celebrations, plus it was raining all day). But I might do a post about wedding guest dresses instead.

Track of the Day:   Carla Bruni - Quelqu'un M'a Dit
Looking at these outift pictures made me feel quite French for some reason so here's some Carla Bruni. She has a beautiful voice and can play guitar. Impressive.

I hope you're having a great week and enjoying the warm air!

I was in Bath a few weeks ago at a friend's hen. I'd never been to Bath before but it's really lovely. It reminds me of a Midsomer Murders town. I had a very relaxing time in our gorgeous apartment catching up with my very dear friends from school in South Africa. We spent Friday night sipping cocktails and having a delicious dinner. Saturday we took a walk around the city and then went to this natural spa where they had an open top heated pool with views of Bath. If only Dublin had one...highly recommend a visit to this one in Bath. Saturday night we sipped champagne and had a delicious Risotto, danced to some cheesy 80's/90's music (2Unlimited were in there somewhere) and watched Flight of the Conchords.

Bath reminded me a bit of Oxford where Radiohead hail from. So, that's why I picked this track.

Barcelona Street Style...(Part 3)

Pin It Now!

(Peter Pan Collar)
I think this is my favourite look from the festival. It speaks for itself. So well put together and she looks fantastic.

(Blue sparkle)
I know this isn't a very well captured outfit picture but I thought this top was just gorgeous and love how she's teamed it with skinny jeans and ankle boots. Tres chic.

(Elegant)
Denim shirt and pleated skirt. She's put her own twist on the denim shirt by tying it up at the waist. Lovely.

(Coral toes)
Not a look I would usually be attracted to/wear myself but she caught my eye.  I don't think it's easy wearing stripey skinny trousers!

(Onesie)
Very cute outfit and lovely trouser suit. I'm a sucker for navy anyway. Also really like her sandals.

This is my final street style post from Primavera, Barcelona. I've really enjoyed doing these posts and I hope you have too. Off to a wedding this weekend which I'm very excited about as it's a couple we've been friends with for a long long time. There will be lots of drinking (perhaps) but I'm mostly looking forward to the ceremony and the dancing. I plan to dance all night and have purposely not picked very high heels. I hope to do a post on it too (weather permitting).

Track of the Day:   Shellac - Prayer to God
Shellac played on the last night. They were freakin' awesome! Yes, they play alot of festivals but I'm glad they played my first Primavera and I got to see them.

It's Friday! So enjoy your weekend whatever you're doing x

Barcelona Street Style...(Part 2)

Pin It Now!
(Yellow Umbrella)
This lovely lady was delighted to get her picture taken! She struck loads of poses - I think the umbrella helped. How clever of her to bring her own umbrella for shade. I love how she's thrown the black pearls around her neck and accessorised her dress with the little brown belt.  She was lovely!

(Scot)
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to ask her if I could take her picture so sorry about all the people in the shot.  I liked her dress - very unusual for a festival I think (and the pose isn't bad either).  It looks like she's watching a fight or something. As you can see, I picked a spot full of people so I hope you can see her dress ok through the crowds!

(Oh so fresh)
I think this lady just looks so cool with her little coloured dress and gorgeous pink runners.

---oOo---

My second street style post from the (festival) streets of Barcelona. The more I look back at these pictures the more I realise how much thought people had put into their outfits. Lots of dresses, Ray Bans and very few flip flops. I could've taken hundreds of pictures if I hadn't been trying to rush off to see all the bands I wanted to see and drinking beer in the sun with friends. I don't know what you'd call it but I think alot of the shots I took are of people dressed quite "geeky". That's what catches my eye I guess. I'm not really into clothes with lots of colours or patterns on them which you may have noticed but I do like yellow alot. I'm fascinated  by what people wear and could spend days looking at them. I much prefer regular people's style to celebs. When you think about it, us regular people don't get sent expensive clothes or have stylists who make us look good. Fair play to us!

Track of the Day:   Chairlift - Bruises
Unfortunately I didn't get to see Chairlift at Primavera but I have since fallen in love with this song and her voice. They also played Forbidden Fruit festival in Dublin a few week's ago but we were just back from Barcelona(and broke)so couldn't go. Hopefully they'll come back and play again.

Anyway, thanks for looking x

Barcelona Street Style...How I love thee (Part 1)

Pin It Now!

(Irish colleen)
I had to pluck up alot of courage to ask this girl if I could take her picture. It was my first at the festival and she happened to be Irish! She was a bit bemused but luckily said yes. Her red hat is quite daring I think but works so well and changes the look of her outfit so much. Look at her cute stripey socks!

(Karen O? Spanish)
This stylish lady was working at one of the record store tents. A shirt and a pair of denim shorts - quite simple and something we probably all own but how well put together is this outfit? I love her hair. I've always loved short hair but this bob isn't an easy one to carry off but she does it so well. I can't remember but I think she was Spanish. I know I should've asked her name but I was so nervous asking girls if I could photograph them that I forgot my manners!

(Fellow blogger, Italian)
I had to take this lady's picture a few times as people were (accidentally) walking into the shot. I was convinced she'd get annoyed and leave but she was so sweet and kind and patient. Then I found out she was a fellow blogger. How exciting to meet another blogger at a festival! She runs http://www.lederniercri.it/ with three friends. It's really good - check it out if you have time. How gorgeous is her vintage dress?
---oOo---

I just couldn't help myself...I had to take some pictures of the oh so many stylish ladies (and gents) at Primavera Sound.  I honestly have never seen so many cool looking festival goers ever. Normally it's wellies and leggings and lots of layers. Not in Barcelona it isn't. And the amount of cool sunglasses. Everywhere I looked someone caught my eye. Either the Spanish are super fashionable or the festival attracts very stylish people. I was as impressed with the fashion as I was with the music. I think if I hadn't started this blog as a self style diary I would be happy just taking pictures of other people. Actually if there's anyone out there who would pay me (minimum wage is fine) to go around the world and just shoot cool looking people, please get in touch!

Track of the Day:   Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
The record store tent lady above reminded me of the gorgeous Karen O so I am currently listening to Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Ahhhh yeah!

This is the first of a few street style posts from Barcelona. Hope you like them.

My Festival Style

Pin It Now!
(Alot of the pieces I have had for years and some bought in last year's summer sale from Penneys/Primark and Pull and Bear.)

I was recently in Barcelona for the first time. We were at Primavera Sound festival where we were lucky enough to see The Cure, Mazzy Star, The XX amongst others. It was brilliant.  Such a well organised festival - no camping, lots of sunshine, beer, clean toilets and nobody urinating in public! That's my kind of festival. So I thought I'd do a post on what I wore. This is the first of a few posts on the festival and Barcelona as there is too much to fit into one post. I will also be doing my first "Street Style - What You Wore" post of all the very cool people of Barcelona and one on Barcelona itself.
It's hard to know what to bring to a festival - normally for us in Ireland it's wellies and layers. But knowing it was going to be very warm (and after checking with Helen and Denise who we went with) I decided to bring similar things to what I'd wear on holiday - shorts, vests, sandals,a hat and lots of suncream. I didn't get to take pictures of all the outfits I wore but I hope you get an idea from what I packed.

Track of the Day:   The Cure - Inbetween Days
The Cure were the highlight for me - they played for three hours - we all thought they'd last fourty minutes at most. They sounded brilliant and Robert Smith still had a full face of make up and backcombed hair just like the old days.

I hope you're having a great Monday so far.

Persephone

Pin It Now!

Scarf, Coat - H&M
Jeans - Awear
Shoes - River Island
Blouse - Gift from a friend

I haven't posted in a few days as I've been away at a festival in Barcelona and a hen in Bath, UK. I seem to have less time these days than I did in winter so I'm sorry for my terrible lack of posts. But, I have been to some great cities the last few weeks so I plan to put up some posts from these trips as soon as I have some free time. There'll be the usual outfit posts but also various "street style" photo's which I'm excited about. I wish I had more guts to take more pictures of people on the street. I always think they'll say no.
I guess it's not quite as warm as I'd like it to be but at least I've managed to go from my winter to summer coats (sort of) which is great.

Track of the Day:   Cocteau Twins - Persephone
I have been a fan of Cocteau Twins since a friend of mine played me their Heaven or Las Vegas record many years ago in South Africa (thanks Daniel). Soon after that I was in an alternative club in Johannesburg for the first time ever. The DJ played Iceblink Luck and I was in love! Liz Fraser's voice is so haunting.  There's something terribly sad about it.

I hope you're having a great week and enjoying the long evenings.

Brains

Pin It Now!

I really love spending time looking at what other people wear. I love seeing how they've put an outfit together.
So, here's some looks I like. It's definitely not summer out there I know, but hopefully the sun will shine again soon and I may end up trying to put similar looks together. I like the way they look summery but still very stylish without alot of "summer" colours. I'm not a fan of lots of colour. I especially like the first girl's shoes - very chic with the ankle strap.
These are all pictures I got from other websites. But I don't have the links so if they're one of yours let me know and I'll credit you.

Track of the Day: Lower Dens - Brains
We're just back from a brilliant few days in Barcelona. What a great city. We'll definitely be going back as there was so much we didn't see. This is also where I first heard Lower Dens as we were at a music festival. They were brilliant.

Hope you're having a good week. Don't forget about the GIVEAWAY currently on offer.
