I was looking for some style inspiration for an upcoming trip to Italy and typed in "Italian summer streetstyle" and these are some of the images I got. I get alot of inspiration from looking at streetstyle and it's a great way to look at your wardrobe and see what works together. I just thought I'd share the style of these very fashionable ladies with y'all..

1. Pleats, block colours, long skirts - say no more. The elegance and style...

2. I'm a sucker for green and love the length and shape of this very cute mini dress

3. I'm in love with maxi skirts at the moment and love how she's paired it with the very cute waistcoat

4. The shoes, the hair, love it

5. Casual but so chic

6. This dress reminds me of one Julia Roberts wore to the horse show in Pretty Woman

7. My favourite - I love black far too much and always worry that it's too dark for summer but worn with bare legs and cute animal print pumps and it works for me

Orange

Dress, Blazer - Dunnes Stores
Denim Jacket - H&M
Shoes - Topshop

Got this dress in Dunnes sale and wasn't sure about it as it's orange and I have red hair. I think it's a myth that you can't wear red or orange if you have red hair but maybe I'm wrong! I've put it with a denim jacket for a more casual look but I think it works with the black blazer to smarten it up a bit too.

It's autumn which means box set time. We recently started watching Mad Men again. I forget how good it is and never want it to end. The fashion is amazing but it's Joan Holloway's outfits I love the most. Everytime Christina Hendricks comes onto the screen I pause it to see what she's wearing (drives himself mad).  The simplicity of those figure hugging dresses and her gold jewellery (does that pen actually write?)...oh, to have lived in the 1960's (but without the sexist men, adultery and alcoholism of course). She has great hair (I'm biased), a figure to die for and looks like a woman. Hot!!

Blouse - A Wear
Skirt - London Market
Shoes - Topshop

I bought this skirt years ago on a trip to visit friends in London in Spitafields Market. It's reversible (black on inside) and I love it. I've had it for years and it always comes out in summer. The blouse has little starts on it and I like the high neck on it. It's also good with trousers.

Unfortunately this band only made one record and then split up...but it's a great record if you get a chance to listen to it. I first heard them in 2001 at Ladyfest Glasgow and never get tired of listening to it.

Window Shopping Shoe Adventure

Pin It Now!

I was in town last night and seeing as it was late night shopping night I took myself off for a window shopping shoe adventure. Ladies, there are lots of lovely shoes out there at the moment. Thought I'd share some of my favourites with you.

New Clarks stock

First stop was Clarks on Grafton Street where they still have summer stock on sale but it was their (dare I say it) winter stock that got my shoe pulse racing. They have some stunning flats - I've only included a tiny selection on this post but believe me there are so many different styles and colours. And so so comfy looking too.

Available from Debenhams right now

Therafter I took myself northside to Debenhams. I never quite realised the mecca that is the back of Debenhams...Faith, Carvela, Nine West, Red Herring...and yes there's still quite a good sale on. I am proud of myself as I didn't buy anything but I was tempted many a time.

Available from asos.com

Asos.com is another great favourite of mine when it comes to drooling over cute shoes.

So, I came home empty handed but still got a kick out of looking and trying on. They all ranged in price from around €15 to €140. The new range in Clarks from around €40 - €60.

Happy Friday! Hope you have lovely weekend plans made.

Sales Shopping Haul

Pin It Now!

Blouses - Zara
Sandals - Penneys
Belt, Silver cuff, Earrings - Penneys
Gold Cuff - Forever 21
Yellow stone necklace - H&M

I've done a bit of sales shopping lately. I had stayed away from them for ages but was looking for some accessories for a very good friend's wedding in Italy and couldn't resist the bargains. So, I thought I'd show you what I've bought.

I've spoken before of my love of Zara. They just have such lovely work clothes (especially their blouses). The first blouse has no sleeves (ugh) but I loved the colour. Going to wear it with black trousers/black skirt. The black skirt is a maxi which I'm going to wear to a BBQ the night before the wedding (I'll be doing a post about my outfits for the holiday too). The sandals are for my khaki maxi dress for the wedding and the jewellery will also be coming to Italy with me.
I don't wear a huge amount of chunky jewellery but now that I'm trying not to spend money on clothes I can spend less and get nice accessories.

I'd say alot of these items are still available in the shops as I only got them about a week ago.

Blouse - Forever 21 (€12,75)
Jeans - Topshop
Jacket - Dunnes (part of a suit)
Shoes - Tesco

I got this top a few day's ago in Forever 21. It's a much brighter colour than what I'm used to wearing but I do love yellow.  It was only €12.75 so that played a part in my decision to get it too. I've worn it so many times already it's paid for itself. I also have a similar coloured top that I got from Mango which I wear to death too. I have a long black maxi skirt that I think would look nice with it and you can also dress it up for work with black trousers or skirt.

The necklace is from Penneys and I'm also getting great wear out of it. Paired with a simple black top and it livens up any outfit. I think it was around €5.

Great song. Great band. Great lyrics. Great beard. Check them out live if you get a chance.

Car Song

Jacket - H&M
Dress - Oasis (Sale)
Shoes - Penneys

I haven't done an outfit post in a long time as I hadn't taken any pictures lately. Normally I try to take pictures every other day but I've just found myself really busy these days. So, I'm glad to be able to do another one now. I saw this dress a while ago in the Oasis sale. I really wasn't sure about it as it's all stripes and sometimes stripes can be very unflattering. But I think the diagonal stripes are actually ok . It's a nice jersey material which means it's very comfortable. AND IT HAS SLEEVES!!! Yay Oasis!

Sometimes I pair it with a black belt but I don't think you need a belt because of the gathering on the side. You could probably wear alot of different jackets with it too..dress it up with a black blazer or with a leather jacket for something more grungy. I'm wearing red shoes but I might also try black, green or coral.  I'm not sure heels would work but I might make it more casual with a pair of converse at the weekend or if I'm wearing it on holiday.

Track of the Day:   Madder Rose - Car Song

Madder Rose are a band I loved in the 90's. I had just started my first job and had met my boy (still my boy). He introduced me to them and I fell in love (with both). This song reminds me of that summer.(Plus, Mary Lorson plays a mean guitar).

Hope you've got something nice planned for the long weekend xx

Dublin Blogger Meet Up

Pin It Now!
Last Saturday I went to my second blogger meet up (read about my first one here).  I was looking forward to it all week and it was a fantastic day.  The lovely Sarah from adoreabubbles organised the entire day and what a day it was. As I said, I was so excited about it, I actually felt a bit like Lily Tomlin in Big Business (the wacky, overexcited twin here on the right).

(mynewplaidpants.blogspot.com)

All 15 of us met up at the GPO and then went off to Lush in Henry Street (we kept it real and stayed on the Northside) to hear all about their new make up range Emotional Brilliance. Here we all are: SarahPaulaRosaleenDee, DonnaAlyciaJoanne, EimearEmmaEllieSarah, Marian, Hannah and Claire.

After hearing about the new make up range some of us had a look around the rest of the shop while others got their colour reading done.  I'd forgotten how lovely their products are. Look how delicious their face masks are. I was talking to Aoife who told me they change the ice every day (that's alot of ice)! Also, thanks to Aoife for spending at least twenty minutes with me helping me make up my mind about which cheek stain to get.

Then it was onto my colour chart. It's a clever concept...you close your eyes, take a deep breath, lovely Lush helpful person spins the colour wheel, you open your eyes and pick the three colours that stand out for you.

I picked Perspective, Healthy and Fantasy. Nice colours eh?  The idea is the colours you pick are meant to correspond to your mood at the time (I've recently started running so maybe that's the healthy bit?) I'd recommend going in with a few friends and having this done or do it here . It's good fun.

There must be 30 colours to choose from and there's lipsticks, eyeliners and eyeshadows and the lipsticks can also be used as cheekstain. Don't forget they're vegan friendly and don't test on animals. We left feeling uplifted, some of us *ahem* purchased some stuff and they sent us on our way with our own goody bag with a free mascara and lipstick. Very very kind of them. Thank you Lush!

Then it was off to Arnotts and the Benefit counter (we were all very excited about this too) where we met Gemma (thelippycricket.wordpress.com). You can tell Gemma loves what she does and knows her stuff. She talked us through all of Benefit's new products which you can find here. She also did a makeover on the lovely Alycia using some of the products. I have my eye on They're Real Mascara and the Porefessional (I don't have a problem with pores but this stuff is velvet in a tube).

We were starving at this stage so headed to The Church bar for yummy lunch and more chat about life, blogging, relationships, shopping and our lunch!

What a brilliant way to spend a Saturday (usually I'm cleaning or ironing or something very boring).

Thank you so much to all the bloggers for being so nice and especially to Sarah for organising such a great day.  She even gave us all our own personalised goody bag that she made up herself in this gorgeous pink packaging with amazing goodies from human + kind, NYC, Inis, Obsessed Jewellery (Rachel couldn't make it), Cinema Secrets, Hair Removal Shop and a lollypop! I've honestly never seen so much in a goody bag before...xxx

Looking forward to the next meetup already! Outfit of the day post to follow...
